This Privacy Policy explains how Neolator ("we", "our", or "the application") handles information when you use our Android arcade emulator application and official website. Neolator is engineered with privacy as a foundational principle.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
We believe in data minimization. Neolator does not require you to create an account, register, or provide any personal details. Specifically, we do NOT collect:
- Personal identification information (such as name, email address, phone number, or physical address).
- Location data or GPS coordinates.
- Device identifiers (such as IMEI, MAC address, or Android Advertising ID).
- Contact lists, photos, media libraries, or camera/microphone input.
- Telemetric profiling or user behavior tracking.
3. Device Permissions & File Access
To perform its primary function as an arcade emulator, Neolator requires limited permissions on your Android device:
- Storage / Scoped Storage Access: Required strictly to allow you to select and load your legally obtained game backup files (ROMs) and save your in-game progress (save states, controller layout configuration files, and high score tables). Neolator only reads directories that you explicitly grant access to via the standard Android system file picker.
- Vibration / Haptics: Used locally to provide tactile feedback when pressing on-screen virtual arcade buttons.
None of your game files, save states, or filesystem contents are ever uploaded to any remote server or third party.
4. Third-Party Services
Neolator is distributed through the Google Play Store. When downloading, updating, or purchasing via Google Play, Google may collect certain diagnostic or transaction data subject to Google's own Privacy Policy. Neolator does not embed third-party analytics SDKs (such as Facebook SDK or Firebase Analytics) or third-party ad networks in the core emulator experience.
5. Intellectual Property & Legal ROM Notice
Neolator is an emulator software application designed to run arcade machine architecture. Neolator does not contain, distribute, host, or supply any copyrighted game ROMs, BIOS images, or proprietary game assets.
Users are strictly responsible for obtaining and using only game ROMs and media files that they legally own, hold the rights to, or are in the public domain / released under homebrew licenses.
6. Children’s Privacy
Neolator does not collect personal information from any user, including children under the age of 13. Our application complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play Families Policy requirements.
7. Security of Your Data
Because all application configuration data, custom controller layouts, and save states are stored locally in your private application storage sandbox on your Android device, the security of that data is protected by Android’s operating system security model.
